Are you an outdoor type?

For people who love outdoor adventures, a timepiece has to have special qualities to sustain being in harsh environments. Casio's Pathfinder is trusted on durability and on top of that, doubles as a cutting edge versatile tool with functions like

1) Tough solar power

2) Multi-band atomic timekeeping

3) Digital compass

4) Altimeters (measuring heights)

5) Barometers (measures atmospheric pressure)

6) Thermometers (measures temperature)

What's different about Casio Pathfinder PAW1300T 7V?

A smaller and lighter version with all the capabilities of the Casio pathfinder.

The most accurate timekeeping device

This multi-band radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from several locations across the globe (the U.S., UK, Germany, and Japan), giving it automatic self-correcting time snychronization.

Which means your Casio Pathfinder automatically corrects it's own time, automatically updating the watch to the atomic clock. Wherever you go, you can depend on the Pathfinder to give you super accurate local time.

Tough Solar power

If you've used battery powered watches before, you'd know this: after about 4 or 5 battery changes the plastic cases tend to start stripping out as you put the screws in the back of the watches. Also, opening the watch for battery change might compromise the waterproof case.

With the solar battery recharge, NO MORE BATTERY CHANGES!

Multi -function

List of functions:

a) Electronic compass. Fairly accurate but need initial calibration. This can be a a very useful function making this watch indispensable in for outdoor adventure.

b) Thermometer - only useful if taken off the wrist. Once used in a correct way, it is pretty accurate.

c) Barometer - it's like having your own weather station on your wrist. It has a 24H barometric trend plot that is pretty cool!

d) Altimeter - if you know how to use it, it can be fairly accurate, typically up to a100 feet or so.

Quality and size

Have all the functions of an adventurer's watch without feeling you have a heavy chain strapped to your wrist. Do you bike? Do you jog? This size and weight is going to please you a lot.

It is perfect for all admirers of the Pathfinder but actually wanted a smaller wrist watch. The Casio Pathfinder PAW1300T 7V is smaller in diameter and thickness compared to the normal Casio Pathfinder. So if you're looking for a multi-function watch but smaller and lighter (also because of the titanium band) than the usual PAWs, this watch is an excellent choice.

Value for your money

For all the feature, design and quality of this watch, the price is a steal. You can get it for around $200 bucks online. This is the best value for your money.

Getting this watch online can save you more than $100 bucks compared to your local stores (Sears, Walmart).

Any drawbacks?

The titanium watch band is held together by small 2-piece link pins, which is different from the usual 1 link pins of most watches. This makes it more complicated to make length adjustments yourself and is better suited to be sent to a shop to do it.

The measurements for barometer and altimeter are relative, not absolute. If you're looking for an accurate device for scientific recordings, this is not the device, and should not be considered in the first place. If you're looking for a watch that gives you fairly accurate measurements of your surroundings for reference purposes, then this watch does more than fine.

Altimeter is relative, due to the fact that it acts by measuring the air pressure. The premise is that the higher yoiu go, the lower the air pressure. As the air pressure changes all the time, you wmight get idfferent readings ata different time. A more accurate way to measure altitude would be a GPS system.

Casio Pathfinder PAW1300 Video Review

What people who bought says about the PAW1300T 7V:

Reviews taken from Amazon.com:

M. Hughes:

I have admired the Casio altimeter/barometer/compass pathfinders for several years. But I never cared for the huge size.

I wanted their functions in a smaller, lighter watch. When Casio introduced the PAW1300T-7V, I decided I would try it as a replacement for my aging Luminox Navy Seal watch. I needed a watch that was fairly light and easily readable in the dark. The Luminox had fit that bill perfectly with the Tritum capsules on the hands at at the hour marks. But over time those capsules loose their luminosity. Also batteries have to be replaced. The prospect of a solar powered, rechargable watch that automatically corrected itself with the Atomic Clock signal was an added benefit.

I fly for an EMS helicopter service for a living. Half of my shifts are night shifts. This watch works very well for quick time checks with its auto-illumination feature. I have found if I calibrate the altimeter and barometer with local conditions that the altimeter function is very accurate, usually within 20-40 feet of the calibrated altimeters in my helicopter. I frequently check the watch against the altimeters when we are flying. Dual time zones means I can leave the secondary time zone on UTC for filing filght plans. The temperature function is not of any real value to me as it is greatly affected by body proximity. But it is accurate if the watch is removed from the body for about 30 minutes. The alarms work well but the alarm tones are too soft for my ears after flying turbine engined aircraft for almost 40 years.

So, a quick recap: Automatic self-correcting time snychronization, Solar powered/recharged, Excellent automatic self-illumiation, Accurate altimeter and compass functions when calibrated for local conditions. It smaller than previous PAW's and lighter, especially in the Titanium version. I was just thinking the other day that I have been using Casio watches for the last 30 years. (I just put a battery in one of the oldest and it still works great!) I have always liked their layout and user interface. This newest Pathfinder of mine is no exception. It is easy to use, easy to set. If you like Casios, for the money, it is hard to beat this watch, especially on Amazon!

Federick R. Mills:

Should one want to have a wrist watch with incredible accuracy built in, this one fits the requirements remarkably well. It is thoroughly dependable. And whoever thought a digital watch could ever be this good looking! Though we haven't much sunshine where i live, not much is needed before it reaches a full charge. If you are a mountain climber,as I am, this watch is for you. Should you be a long-distance cyclist, as I am, you need this watch. My having purchased it was a very smart move. There may never be a need for any other watch. This one really has it all.

Todd N. Scott:

I originally purchased the casio paw 1300 1v with the rubber band, and ended up trading it in for this model with the titanium band. I have to tell you the titanium band is much better and it seems as though the watch fits better. All of the functions of the watch work great and accurate. As said in previous remarks you do have to take the watch off to get the exact temperature reading but other than that barometer and altimeter work fine. I was really happy with Amazons packaging and delievery service, the watch had more protective plastic around it than needed but hey it kept the watch prestine! I have nothing but good things to say for this watch. Im heading up to Big Bear tomorrow and will be using it for my hike to the peak!
